I will be your child´s Spanish Teacher this semester
Mr. Cervera has been a Spanish and English Teacher for twenty years for Elementary, Middle and High School students as well in universities in the most qualified private and public schools and institutions of Barranquilla, Colombia. Also, he has worked on several projects related to writing, reading, and speaking experiences of the real world. Mr Cervera joined the staff at Neuse Charter School as a Spanish Teacher since 2012. His main goal is to help students to improve their communications skills and involve parents, guardians and the community in this achievement. Mr. Cervera likes to share the most relevant aspects of the Hispanic culture in his classes. Mr.Cervera loves any kind of expression of arts. His hobbies are photography and sports.

SPANISH III HONORS SYLLABUS
Spanish III
Fall 2017 – Winter 2018
Overview.
This course is the Third in a series of high school Spanish classes. It is important for students to study foreign languages not only because they will be able to communicate with people who speak languages other than English, but also because it is a highly marketable skill in the work force today. This course is more focused in applying the concepts acquired in Spanish I and II in real scenarios.
Objectives and Goals
1. Communicate in languages other than English.
2. Gain knowledge and understanding of other cultures.
3. Connect with other disciplines and acquire information.
4. Develop insight into the nature of language and culture
5. Participate in multilingual communities at home and around the world.
Materials Required Daily:
1 Spanish/English - English/Spanish Dictionary, 1 Notebook, 1 folder, copy Paper - Pencil – pen – eraser - Pencil sharpener – color pencils , glue, ruler, eraser , scissors, construction paper.
Note: The Spanish Textbook will be provided by the school but the student is responsible for it.
Class Expectations and Responsibilities
Be on time.
Be respectful.
Complete all assignments quietly.
Bring all materials.
Follow instructions
Keep your workstation clean
Grading Scale
Tests/Projects 40% Quizzes 30% Homework/Class work 30%
Class Policies:
1. Respect yourself and respect others
2. Get to the bathroom before or after class.
3. Be in your seat before the class starts.
4. No food, No drinks, only water. No chewing gum in my class.
5. If you have an absence, you are responsible for obtaining your make-up work.
6. Admit slips are required after any excused or verified absence.
7. If I do not see and sign your admit slip, you will receive a zero for participation for the day(s) you missed.
8. No late work will be accepted without an excused absence.
9. You will have an assigned seat
10. Bullying or any kind of violence act will not be tolerated in class.
